Specializing in decadent, Maui-grown chocolate, Ku’ia Estate Chocolate has been farming cacao and other raw materials over 20 acres for several years. They donate 100% of their net profits to local charities, host events, and open their doors for chocolate tastings and tours of the farm. 

Share the aloha spirit at Leilani’s On The Beach, a restaurant that is so much more than a dining experience. Leilani’s pays a beautiful tribute to the women of Hawaii and provides customers with a carefully crafted aloha spirit. Award-winning menu items include fresh-caught fish (delivered daily), island-style prepared meats, and traditional ahi poke bowls. Enjoy your beautifully crafted meals right on the beach during a breathtaking Hawaiian sunset.

Things to Do

Visit Lahaina on Friday nights for “Art Night” on Front Street! Over 15 art galleries along this famous street open their doors for an evening of art appreciation, entertainment, food and drink. Art Night features special artists in residence hosting demonstrations and “art in action” workshops. Front Street is also one of the most charming shopping destinations in Hawaii, featuring dozens of small boutiques and eclectic stores. 

For outdoor activities, visit the Kapalua Coastal Trail, situated along with the lava fields in the northwest corner of Maui. Just a 3.5-mile trip, this trail winds by Kapalua Bay and through lava fields before finishing along the water for beautiful views. The trail is a mix of pavement, sand, gravel, rocks, greenery, and wooden walkways.

To experience the perfect Hawaiian sunset, visit Kaanapali Beach, located about 50 minutes from the Kahului Airport. Once named America’s Best Beach, Kaanapali is a crystal-clear ocean paradise with sugar-white sand and gorgeous views. Every evening at sunset, a cliff diver lights a torch along with Black Rock in ceremony and jumps into the water. If cliff-diving isn’t your thing, the beach also offers a ziplining tour. 

In 1986, four friends came together to bring more culturally sensitive experiences to the island. Old Lahaina Lūʻau provides traditional lūʻau presentations for over 350 guests seven evenings a week. The lūʻau and restaurant have each received numerous awards, including accolades from Hawaii Magazine and The Maui Time. At each evening’s show, the hallmarks of Old Lahaina Lūʻau are presented to guests: Hoʻokipa (hospitality), Poʻokela (excellence), and aloha (love). 

Schools

Westside Maui has several high-achieving schools in the area. Some include:

• Maui Preparatory Academy in Lahaina, a private college prep school for students from preschool to 12th grade.
• Sacred Heart School and Early Learning Center, a private Catholic school for grades PreK-8. 

Famous for its Hawaiian and nautical history, this historic town which was Hawaii's first capital has become one of the most popular areas of the island. Many island style shops, restaurants, and hot spots are in Lahaina. Its harbor anchors many boats that take tourists out on the ocean to relax, whale-watch, snorkel or enjoy a sunset dinner cruise.
